When a dental problem cannot wait

Call now to check urgent availability

Severe tooth pain, a broken tooth, swelling, bleeding, or a lost crown can be unsettling. Tell the team what is happening so they can help you decide the appropriate next step. Do not assume an online appointment slot is an emergency appointment.

When to seek medical emergency care

Call 911 or go to an emergency department for trouble breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, major facial or jaw trauma, or swelling spreading toward the eye, jaw, or neck. For other urgent tooth or gum concerns, call the dental office.

Tooth pain or swelling

Let us know when it began, where it hurts, and whether the swelling or pain is changing. An examination is needed to find the cause.

Broken, cracked, or chipped tooth

Describe how it happened and whether the tooth is painful, sharp, loose, or sensitive. The repair depends on the tooth and damage.

Knocked-out adult tooth

Contact a dentist immediately. This is time-sensitive; tell the team that the tooth came out completely.

Lost crown or filling

Call if a restoration comes loose or falls out, especially when the tooth is painful or sharp. The tooth should be examined before a repair is chosen.

Our office is at 9800 N Lake Creek Pkwy #150 in Austin. Regular hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Friday is closed. Outside those hours, do not rely on the contact form for an immediate response. Use an emergency department for the medical warning signs above.

Call before coming in so our team can check availability and give you instructions.

What happens after you call

An exam comes before a treatment decision

The first priority is understanding what is wrong and what care is appropriate. A phone call cannot replace a dental examination.

  1. Explain the concern

Tell the team about symptoms, injury, previous treatment, and any change since the problem began.

  2. Examine the area

If a visit is arranged, the dentist may review the tooth, gums, bite, and imaging needed to understand the problem.

  3. Discuss the options

Findings may lead to repair, a crown, root canal evaluation, extraction discussion, referral, or another plan. The team can explain expected steps and an estimate.

  4. Plan follow-up

Some problems need more than one appointment or a specialist. You should know what happens next and whom to contact if symptoms change.

Costs and payment

What might an urgent visit cost?

The cost depends on what the dentist finds and what care you choose. The evaluation and any needed imaging are one part of the estimate. Care provided at that visit and any later definitive treatment may add separate costs.

  • Examination and imaging, if needed
  • Care that can be completed at the visit
  • Further restoration or specialist care, if recommended

Emergency dentistry FAQs

Questions before you call

Calling is the fastest way to check the office’s current availability. If you have medical emergency signs, use emergency medical care instead.

Can I book an emergency appointment online?

The online scheduler does not confirm an urgent appointment. Call (512) 337-8560, explain what happened, and ask what the office can arrange.

What if a crown or filling comes out?

Call the office and describe whether the tooth is painful, sharp, or sensitive. An examination helps determine whether the restoration can be repaired or needs to be replaced.

What if the tooth needs more than one visit?

After examining the tooth, the dentist can explain what may be done now, whether further restorative care or referral is needed, and when to follow up.
